According to legend, if the groundhog sees his shadow (a sunny morning), there will be six more weeks of winter. He then returns to his den and goes back to sleep. If however, he does not see his shadow (cloudy days); he plays around outside of his hole for a while. If he does not see his shadow, spring is just around the corner.
The Groundhog's Day tradition traveled long ways. It comes from German roots. German immigrants brought the tradition with them from
If Candlemas be fair and bright,
Winter has another flight.
If Candlemas brings clouds and rain,
Winter will not come again.

Ford chose
Yes, after Ford says that the new Focus "takes kinetic design to a new level," with a sportier design and more athletic stance, and it showcases "the new global DNA" of Ford small cars. Overall proportions look right either in sedan or hatchback form. And inside, the new Focus gets a design that builds on the themes and materials seen in the 2011 Ford Fiesta, with a wrap-around center console and more of a cockpit look than Ford has used in recent years. Look for more about the interior in an upcoming post; up close, it's beautiful and looks even a step better than the Fiesta interior we gushed over at the LA show.

DETROIT - The Ford Motor Company's strong showing in 2009 was reaffirmed Monday with a sweep of the North American Car of the Year and North American Truck of the Year Awards.
The awards are given by a jury of automotive journalists from the United States and Canada, and announced here each year at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.
The car award went to the Ford Fusion Hybrid, marking the fourth time a gasoline-electric hybrid car has won in the 17 years the awards have been in existence. Ford's Escape Hybrid sport utility vehicle won the award in 2005.
Transit Connect.
In the truck category, Ford's mold-breaking Transit Connect van scored highest with the judges. It was the sixth win in the truck category for Ford, the most of any automaker. Ford also won last year with its redesign of the F-150 pickup.
It was be the third time the same manufacturer has won both awards. Honda accomplished the feat in 2006 with the Honda Civic and Ridgeline. General Motors followed in 2007 with the Saturn Aura and Chevrolet Silverado.
The awards recognize the vehicles that are "benchmarks" in their segments based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar. Vehicles must be new or "substantially changed" to be considered.
This year the jurors considered more than 50 vehicles. Of those, the jurors voted to put 16 cars and 10 trucks on the ballot.
Last year, the awards went to the Hyundai Genesis and the Ford F-150.
